This drawing took me 90 minutes.I created the composition using the rule of thirds with the bridge intersecting two of my thirds.I started by creating the outlines of the main areas like the path and the bridge.Once i was happy with my proportions i began to add more detail to the drawing. I tried to recreate the detail within the grassy areas by adding lines to create the general feel and texture to the grass without spending hours on every little detail.I then began to add texture to the bridge and the trees followed by shading these areas.

This was a 20 minute sketch of the viaduct near my house.I tried to add depth to this composition with a foreground, middleground and background running through the arches of the viaduct.I tried to focus on speed with this compostition and as a result the shading came out looking really bad. After sketching in the basic composition i quickly began adding some of the detail on the houses in the foreground then began to shade areas of the picture. There was not enough tonal value given to this picture and the overall result is not pleasing.
