Week 1

This drawing took me 50 minutes.Rather than drawing one trainer i tried to create more of an interesting composition by using both trainers.I set the scene up outside and used the sun as my light source.I started by measuring the trainers using the sighting method and then drawing the outline of the  objects.I then began to add more detail and started with the shading adding the darkest tones first.The foreshortening of the trainer on the right was quite hard and although i felt like i had drawn it correctly it just didn't seem to look right.Finally i began drawing the cast shadow for the objects.I was quite happy with the proportions of the object but feel the overall picture was let down by the shading.

Here is a drawing of my computer chair that took about 1 hour.I started out by blocking out the basic proportions on my sheet but as i got further into the work and sighting some of the proportions were changed and then the chair no longer fit into my sheet as it was intended.

I used a lamp that was behind the chair to light my scene to create some shadow.I started by drawing the outline of the chair and then started to add more detail.Then i started to add the shadows on the arms of the chair and the base starting with the darkest tones first.I like the chair levers on this picture and the shading on the base but i feel overall the shading could have been better.

This drawing took me 1 hour.I used the lamp that i was using to light my scene as part of my composition.I tried to arrange the bananas in a way that created interesting shadows between them.

After sighting my objects i then roughly blocked out my scene and began drawing the outlines of my objects until i was happy with them.I then began adding more more detail and shading my picture.Starting with the darker tones i worked my way up to the lighter tones using a rubber to create some of the highlights in my picture.Finally i added the cast shadow for the fruit bowl and tried to create some texture to the wooden surface which my objects were placed on.I wanted to create some texture to the surface without adding too much detail but it didn't work very well.
