Week 4

This was a 15 minute sketch of my bag.It is a material bag and i tried to recreate the texture of the bag by using cross hatching.I started out by drawing the outline of the bag and the strap.I then began to shade the bag starting off with the lighter tones and then adding in the darker tones.I finished the picture off by drawing the cast shadow for the bag so that i didnt look like it was a floating object.

Here is a 30 minute drawing of some cloth.I placed the cloth on a mirror so i could create a more interesting composition and also create more interesting folds in the cloth.I started with the basic shapes of both objects until i was happy with the basic shapes and proportions.I then began shading in the creases, staring lightly and building up the tone in the darker areas of the creases. To finish of i used a putty rubber to bring out some of the highlights from the cloth, the mirror and the wooden frame that surrounded the mirror.
This is a 35 minute drawing of some cloth draped over clothes horse.
Looking at this drawing i should have drawn the clothes horse but i was trying to focus on the material.I started with the outline of the cloth making sure is was accurate to what i was seeing.I then began shading lightly and forming the creases within the cloth.I built up the tones trying to form a subtle transition bettween the darkest and the lightest tones. To finish of i brought out some of the highlights using a rubber.
